About
My name is Navid Shervani-Tabar, and I was born in Wollongong, Australia. I am currently a postdoctoral research associate at the University of Notre Dame, working on MetaPlasticity and learning the learning algorithm in deep neural networks. I earned my Ph.D. in Aerospace and Mechanical engineering at Notre Dame, working on predictive modeling in graph-based deep learning algorithms with applications in molecular modeling.
Prior to this, I obtained my M.Sc. in Applied and Computational Mathematics and Statistics, working on the application of the sequential Monte Carlo method in solving inverse problems. I received my master's degree in mechanical engineering, studying stabilized conservative level-set method with adaptive wavelet-based mesh refinement under Dr. Oleg Vasilyev at CU Boulder.
Before graduate school, I earned my bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Tabriz, advised by Dr. Mohammad Shervani. My undergraduate research involved the experimental and numerical study of the cavitational flows in pumps. During this time, I was an intern at Festo Didactic, working in the Advanced Hydraulic Systems group led by Alireza Piragar and Industrial Pneumatic and PLC group led by Mehdi Tohid.
I am a card-carrying soccer referee. I'm also interested in jogging and hiking. My hobbies include drawing with pencil and blogging. I also enjoy studying history.
